For this exercise we are going to use some of the best FREE tools available on the Internet.  These tools will aid you in cleaning your computer from Spyware.

This Software is free for personal use and it should be use at your own discretion.

                              Step 1: CCleaner

CCleaner is a utility that removes unnecessary temporary files left behind by your computer it also performs system registry cleanup and repairs.  To speedup the cleaning process we will run this tool first. You may download CCleaner and run the "Cleaner" option. Once the Cleaner has finished  move on to the next step.

                            Download CCleaner

                              Step 2: Anti-Spyware

To make sure nothing slips by we are going to use two different spyware scanning tools "SuperAntiSpyware" and "Malwarebytes".

Let's get started, download and install  SuperAntiSpyware first - once the software is installed make sure to  check for updates before running the "Quick Scan" and move on to the next step..
                            Download SuperAntiSpyware
Now download and install the next scanning tool "Malwarebytes" and make sure to run the Updates prior to the Quick Scan and continue with step 3.

                            Download Malwarebytes

                            Step 3: Anti-virus

Finally, you should have an up-to-date Anti-virus program running on your computer. Unlike Anti-Spyware, Anti-Virus is NOT an Anti-Spyware software.  Also, you should only have ONE anti-virus program running on your computer.  If you don't have one, or if you have a trial program that has expired remove the expired version and install a licensed or freeware copy of Anti-Virus on your computer as soon as possible.

We recommend the FREE Microsoft Security Essentials Anti-virus Software.  It is easy to use and it does a very nice job in detecting viruses too.

Always make sure that your Anti-Virus software is up-to-date prior to performing a scan on your computer.

                            Download MS Security Essentials
Note: There are many good Freeware Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus software available for personal use on the Internet to choose from.  However, the ones listed in this article are proven products.  On the other hand, depending on the severity of what some spyware and viruses can leave behind sometimes bad code can go undetected by Anti-Spyware and Ani-Virus Programs, drastic measures may be necessary.  In such cases the aid of an experienced computer technician may be required.
